IB Diploma
In May 2008 St. Andrews International School, Green Valley became an IB World School authorised to deliver the IB Diploma Program. Since that time, St Andrews students have achieved excellent IB Diploma results. 89% gaining their IB Diploma compared to a worldwide average of 80% with 55% of those students being awarded a prestigious IB Bilingual Diploma. Graduating students have been accepted into leading universities around the world and are now thriving in the next stage of their education.
The IB Diploma Programme is recognised by universities in 124 countries and is designed to be taken over two years (16-18 years old). Research conducted in the UK reveals the fact that university admissions offices recognise that the skills developed by IB students make them highly desirable applicants for university courses.
In addition to the substantial knowledge gained, the skills developed during our two year program of study will benefit students who need to learn the value of information and develop independent study skills. These are both important for university success when the higher order thinking skills of analysis, synthesis and evaluation are constantly required.
The DP includes six academic subjects and the central core which consists of the extended essay, theory of knowledge, and creativity, action, service (CAS). Students study two modern languages, humanities or social science subject, an experimental science, mathematics or computer science, and another subject including the arts.
Due to the high standards and demands of the course it is imperative that students entering are academically capable of succeeding, therefore students should gain at least 5 A* - C grades in their iGCSEs ideally including Maths, English (first or second language) and Science.
